After practicing in the Erie Region since 1985 and owning Contemporary Ophthalmology of Erie for 41 years, Dr. Howard Levin has chosen to retire. He leaves his practice in the capable hands of our other providers. Dr. Levin has expressed his complete confidence that these physicians will deliver the highest quality of care to the patients he has dedicated his life to during his time at Contemporary Ophthalmology of Erie.
Dr. Christian Wood specializes in primary care optometry and medical optometry. Initially from Warren, PA, he completed his Bachelor of Science at Pennsylvania State University, and then received his Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University as class Valedictorian in 2015. Dr. Wood then completed a one-year residency in ocular disease and medical optometry at the Manchester VAMC in New Hampshire.
Ophthalmologist Emily Washek is a corneal specialist and native of Erie, PA. She completed an ophthalmology residency at Oklahoma State University before completing a fellowship in corneal health, external disease, and refractive surgery. She has returned to her hometown to offer advanced eye surgery and care for eye diseases.
Dr. Sarah DeVaro is a board-eligible ophthalmologist offering comprehensive eye exams, cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma procedures (MIGS), and minor eyelid surgeries in Erie, PA. Dr. DeVaro recently moved to Erie to join her husband, Andrew Steehler, an ENT resident. She is now seeing patients at Contemporary Ophthalmology of Erie.
